New Resin SP1200 Inspired Figure by Patrick Wong

by
Illustrator Patrick Wong has just released a 3" limited edition resin toy entitled "SP1200" (after the legendary sampling drum machine of the same name) targeting beat producers, toy collectors, and connoisseurs of classic hip hop culture.

The SP1200 resin toy is the second release in the "Beats" series. The series sets out to create a genealogy of samplers from the late 80s to 2000s such as the MPC60 and Maschine, marking an evolution of both in technology and music. The Emu SP1200 sampling drum machine ushered in a new era of music composition in 1987 by allowing artists to sample parts of breakbeats and appropriating them to create "new" productions.

Like the MPC60 (previously announced), the SP1200 was known for it's distinctive lo-fi 12-bit aesthetic and made popular by producers such as Pete Rock and Lord Finesse.

The SP1200 resin toy begins shipping Friday July 14, 2014 and is available for $40 plus shipping in Patrick's store. Comes with a numbered card, accessory toy break record (The Honeydrippers "Impeach the President" 45), and is limited to 50 pieces.

Kaiju Kaos: Smackdown Stat Cards Set 01 by Bryan "Stratos" Borgman

by
Bryan K Borgman, aka Stratos, recently added to the Kaiju Kaos world with the release of Kaiju Kaos: Smackdown Stat Cards, Set 01. What exactly is Kaiju Kaos?
Here is the description from Wargame Vault:

Kaiju Kaos is a tabletop miniatures game where two or more players pit their hand-painted metal and resin armies against one another. Kaiju Kaos is a strategic skirmish game. It’s not just a matter of lining up models on the table and the person who goes first is the winner. Kaiju Kaos requires cunning and adaptability because at any time an opponent can drastically alter the current situation with an unexpected action or a lucky roll of the dice. A solid strategy and good implementation combined with a little luck will enable the weakest troopers to bring down the mightiest monster. There are various unnamed troopers and specialists to build armies with, but the true heart of Kaiju Kaos is in the characters – whether they’re human, Kaijin, or colossal Kaiju bent on destroying everything in their path.
So, Kaiju Kaos is a strategy tabletop miniatures game, that uses a combination of miniatures, stat sheets and of course the rule book. Kaiju Kaos: Smackdown is a death match variation of Kaiju Kaos and this recent release for Kaiju Kaos, is a set of Stat Cards to be used with the game. The stat cards can be purchased as a PDF Download for $0.99 or can be printed on demand for $4.95 + shipping through both Drive Thru Cards and Wargame Vault. The deck includes 20 stat cards for 18 different characters, 2 characters of which have 2 different cards included to account for alternate forms. Tabletop games like this, offer great playability while also allowing people to take a technology break. Often, the miniatures are raw and can be painted, which adds to the fun for many. For those who are unfamiliar with, he/she may recognize some of his/her favorite artist's characters in the Kaiju Kaos: Smackdown rulebook and possibly in the rulebooks of the other variations of Kaiju Kaos.

So, grab a partner and go purchase the Kaiju Kaos: Smackdown rule book, get a set of Stat cards and pick up one or more of the playable miniatures.

Wild Westside is a brand that originated from a series of faux taxidermy pieces which feature a blend of the Wild West feel, with West Coast lifestyle. Measuring in at 9"x5"x7", these OG Impala Minis are a great representation of the larger OG pieces.

The first colorway, Ivory, will be made available on June 27th via the Wild WestSide website. This piece will make a great base for other artists to paint and make unique. The GID version will be the second release, expected to happen at SDCC. While the Onyx version will be released in August. Each edition will be limited to 20 pieces and is made from wood, resin and acrylic. Who knows, if these OG Impala Minis are a success, there might be other minis created in the future.
