Wreck It Ralph Custom Muttpop Tequila by Jon-Paul Kaiser

by
Even with Designer Con 2014 later this week, Jon-Paul Kaiser is still getting some commission work done and handed off, before making the long plane ride to Pasadena, California. His latest delivered commission is Jon-Paul's take on Wreck It Ralph, using a custom Muttpop Tequila figure. Jon-Paul was basically provided with an idea by the customer, who wanted a Wreck It Ralph custom, but didn't have a figure in mind for the base. Jon-Paul was drawn to the Muttpop Tequila figure, since Muttpop was one of the first companies which drew Jon-Paul into collecting vinyl toys. Essentially, the Tequila figure makes Wreck It Ralph a buffed out version of himself. Jon-Paul left most of the original Tequila figure in tact, while keeping to a clean and simple design. With a re-sculpted head and expert paint application, Jon-Paul was able to really bring Wreck It Ralph to life. All the photos were taken by Justin Allfree, Jon-Paul's go to photographer. For those heading to Designer Con 2014, be sure to attend one of Jon-Paul Kaiser's signings to not only grab a sketch, but maybe some custom work he may bring along.

Admyer Creations at Designer Con Booth #620 with Ink Bombers

by
One of the best things about Designer Con, besides the affordability for both the vendors and attendees, is the fact that as the convention grows, so does the amount of artists able to participate. Admyer Creations, Celeste Delgado, is one of the emerging artists who will have some work available to purchase at Designer Con. Admyer Creations will be set up at the Ink Bombers Booth, #601. One of the creations for Designer Con is a Vinylmations set of the Monsters Inc characters Skully and Boo. Skully is made to be a Pinata, whereas Boo is the child ready to start smashing him open to get to the delicious candy, waiting to drop. Also on deck, is a custom MadL figure, which should be complete and ready to purchase at Designer Con 2014. So, for everyone heading out to Designer Con 2014, be sure to stop by all the Booths, chat with artists and don't forget to bring a sketchbook and some sharpies.

For The Love of Music Exhibit at Flower Pepper Gallery

by
Opening the weekend of Designer Con 2014, Flower Pepper Gallery's newest exhibit is called "For The Love of Music". Curated by Urban Vinyl Daily, "For The Love of Music" features 12" x 12" works of art, inspired by the quintessential 12" album covers of some classic records. Opening reception will happen on November 8th from 6-9pm. The exhibition will run until December 3rd, 2014 and is open to the public. With a long list of amazing artists, the show should have some great pieces. Perhaps you've seen that hot pink stormtrooper toy with the suspiciously large crotch, or those crystal clear casts of iconic toys with gnarled bone white skeletons inside. Have you wondered why someone would make a sparkly snow white esque witch and then replaced her hands with additional heads, like some sort of human Hydra? You may not even care that Frankenstein and Boba Fett would never co-exist, but a figure of the two combined sounds like a killer idea to you. Sound like you? Great, then come to this panel. A discussion of the merits and demerits of using pre-existing figure parts to make new creations as well as a look at where the scene began and where it may go. (Stage)

Forces of Dorkness Krampus on a Shelf Figures Drop Sun Nov 2

by
The holidays have always been a special time for all the good little children...but now we're taking time to celebrate all the rotten ones too.

Krampus, a beast-like creature from the folklore of Alpine countries, has always been thought to punish misbehaving children during the Christmas season. This horrific creature plays the foil to jolly old Saint Nicholas who rewards well-behaved children with gifts. It is said that Krampus captures particularly naughty children in his sack and carries them away to his mountain lair.

Take this little demon and have fun with the bad kids during the holidays. Krampus is designed to sit on anything. His arms and legs are movable and he balances perfectly on a shelf or anywhere else.

Available for pre-order only starting at 7PM EST on Sunday November 2nd. Preorder window is two weeks long, and no further orders will be taken after November 16th. All Krampus on a Shelf orders will be delivered in time for full holiday enjoyment.

Krampus on a Shelf figures are 8-inch long mixed-media pieces, all hand-made in the USA by Forces of Dorkness. Krampus figures will sell for $50 each on our Super Series Sundays page.

Designer Con Tease from J★RYU - Booth #1113

by
What a tease! J★RYU has been teasing some work which will be available at Designer Con 2014, Booth # 1113. In addition to the Love Sapling, J★RYU is going to have a number of original sculptures, resin art collectibles, as well as some customs on platforms J★RYU has yet to tackle. J★RYU has already teased some Argonaut Resin pieces and what looks to be a Huck Gee Skullhead Bust. J★RYU also teased the hashtags 3A, Munny, Dunny, and Madl, so there appears to be a ton of great work in store for DCon 2014 attendees. No word on pricing or availability, but for those attending Designer con 2014, be sure to check out Booth #1113 where J★RYU will be selling some goods, alongside Vampy Bit Me and some special guests.

Boneyard Pets - Because Dinosaurs!

by

I don't know about you- but I'm way more interested in Dinosaurs now than I was when I was a kid. Probably in part because the little tiny wooden, and very breakable, model kits didn't do the creatures they reproduced much justice. These big, weather durable Boneyard Pets from 32 Square, however, are looking dino-mite.

That's a model size you can sink your teeth into.
Boneyard Pets are up on Kickstarter here, and are already fully funded- so they're coming! Check out their new dinosaur designs, sizes and colours here.
